Cuts by Them offers gender-neutral hair services. Traditional salons and barbershops often charge the same for all haircuts of the same length or gender category, regardless of how much time, effort, and skill ACTUALLY is required for the haircut itself. Here, I price my services according to the time, skills, techniques, and tools used to create a haircut, regardless of arbitrary gender norms. Haircuts are categorized into two main tiers, Precision Cuts and Standard Cuts. (Although right now each category is split into "Short" or "Long" on my booking page, I plan to transition out those terms after some time has passed for client education).
Precision Cuts are haircuts of any length that incorporate more complex techniques and therefore take more time, like layering, fading, blending, adding texture, creating sharp lines or designs, and more. For example, any kind of fade (skin, bald, zero, half), a disconnected haircut like a pompadour or undercut, or a scissor cut with layers for any length including shags, mullets, or any other medium or long haircut with layering or with an undercut. Included in the price is optional hot towel, neck shave, and styling.
Standard Cuts are haircuts of any length that use only one to two techniques and take less time. For example, a short clipper cut with a #1 guard or longer, a scissor cut (no layers), a short scissor cut with an undercut, a bob, a medium or long one-length cut (no layers), or creating a new buzzcut or undercut without a full haircut. Included in the price is optional hot towel, neck shave, and styling.
Buzz Cuts or Undercut Maintenance are for trimming any pre-existing buzz cuts or undercuts only. This does not include a haircut for any length remaining beyond the undercut itself. This does not cover changing the undercut shape or buzzing hair longer than 3 inches. For a new buzzcut or undercut, select a Standard Haircut. For cutting a new undercut AND a haircut with layers or other complex techniques, select a Transformation Cut.
Transformation Cuts are for creating a new undercut WITH a full haircut, or otherwise any drastic change in hair style or length that would require more time for consultation, rough cut, shampoo, and polishing cut. (shampoo included in price).
If you don't know which service to book, I ask that you PLEASE schedule a service with extra time, add a complimentary Extra Consultation, or reach out to me! This is to block out extra time in case it is needed, and we can spend a few minutes at the beginning of your appointment talking about what you want and figuring out which price point to charge you. Although you will be asked to put down a card payment to book your appointment, you will NOT be charged until after your appointment, and I will be able to adjust the price during checkout.
If you book a Standard Cut and it turns out you really need a Precision or Transformation Cut, which requires more time, I may have to ask you to reschedule so I have enough time to complete your service without rushing or sacrificing the quality of your haircut. I really would like to avoid that so please book with 15-30 extra minutes if you're unsure. You won't be charged extra if you end up getting a lower priced service.
For all appointments, a card will be required to store on file before confirming. It will NOT charge your card until checkout at the end of your appointment. You can also use Tap-to-Pay, Cash, or Venmo.
Tips are not expected or required! I understand there's uncertainty and pressure around "Tip Culture." I will not share an option to tip unprompted. If you would like to tip to show your appreciation, let me know and you will be able to do so at checkout, with cash, or using Venmo/Cash App.
If you ever start to get nervous or anxious around something I'm doing, please let me know and I will stop! I can't read your mind and I would rather you let me know in the moment there's something bothering you so I can fix it during your appointment, rather than you say nothing and suffer in silence.
I know it can be really hard to speak up, especially if you've had some bad haircut experiences in the past. Please know I will never take offense to being told I am not doing what you want or you don't like how it's looking. I am here to help you find the hair that feels best for you to live in, because you're the one that has to live with it in the end, not me!
Your credit or debit card information is saved to your profile when booking, making it easier than ever to checkout at the end of your appointment. You are NOT charged when you book your appointment, and there is no hold placed on your card. This is my primary method of collecting payments for my services. At the end of your appointment, we will confirm your card on file and charge only after your service.
If for some reason your card does not go through during checkout, I may have to ask you to try a different card or use cash or Venmo to complete your payment.
Typically 1-3 days before your appointment you will be sent an email asking you to complete a check-in form. On the form, you have many options of accommodations to choose from, and your form will be saved for future appointments so you don't have to answer the same questions over and over.
Sometimes we don't know what we need or think we don't need something but it turns out we actually do. It happens! If during your appointment you find something isn't working for you and you need an adjustment, I would be so grateful for you to share that with me because I would hate it if you suffered in silence for any reason.
Lights too bright? We can dim them! Music too loud? I'll turn it down. No music is actually making you scream inside because now you can hear the air purifier or your own breathing? I'll turn it back on! Halfway through you realize you're too tired to talk? I probably want a break too, no sweat!

In order to give each client my full attention and service time, I do not take walk-in appointments. You must book your appointment in advance. Same-day appointments are available up to 15 minutes in advance, subject to availability. There is a waitlist option if you do not see a day or time that works for you.
